Tech Bridges is a program of Here's Life Inner City
that grew out of the needs expressed from urban churches in New York City regarding the lack of computers and technology in their communities. Tech Bridges is based in New York City at the Here's Life Inner City offices in Queens.
Our desire is simply to see technology being brought to communities that are lacking access to technology. We want to be a resources for churches and ministries in New York City who have a vision to offer technology resources for the members of their communities. It's our hope to see computer centers in churches throughout all the boroughs of New York City in use by their after-school programs, adult education programs, open access computer time for people in their community, and other programs.
Tech Bridges grew out of conversations with inner city churches and after school programs that serve at-risk youth in New York. These organizations overwhelmingly expressed the need for the people in their community, especially youth, to have more access and education in computers. The two problems that came up again and again were the lack of computers and the lack of computer knowledge.
The organizations that might have been able to obtain a donation of computers often did not have any one knowledgable on staff to maintain the computers or teach computer classes. As a result two of our main focuses are getting donated computer equipment to distribute to our members and getting volunteers to maintain computer equipment and teach computer classes.
Please contact us if you have any questions about Tech Bridges or if you would like to help out and get involved in some manner. We have an ongoing need for donated computer equipment, volunteers, and any monetary donations to help us meet our organizational budget would greatly help us to fulfill our mission.
